ELSA – Emotional Literacy Support

Our Family Support Team includes an ELSA-trained practitioner who works with children on a short-term basis to help them build confidence, manage emotions and feel good about themselves.

What is ELSA?

Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) is a school-based early intervention programme, delivered by a trained member of our Family Support Team, Nikki Mayers.

ELSA is short-term, goal-focused support, built on trust and respect. It is planned, reviewed and usually runs over 6–10 weeks.

What can ELSA help with?

Where does ELSA fit?

ELSA is not counselling or therapy and does not replace safeguarding procedures, SEND provision or specialist services such as CAMHS. Instead, it forms part of the wider support available to children at Dorridge Primary School.
