Creativity and imagination are celebrated throughout EYFS at Dorridge Primary School and form an important part of children’s learning and development. We provide rich opportunities for children to explore, create, perform and express themselves through a wide range of experiences both indoors and outdoors.

Children explore art, music, dance, role play, storytelling and imaginative play through carefully planned activities and continuous provision. They are encouraged to experiment with colour, texture, design, movement and sound while developing confidence in expressing their own ideas and feelings.

In Nursery, children begin exploring creative experiences through sensory play, singing, painting, construction and imaginative play. As children move into Reception, they continue to develop their creativity through more independent exploration, collaborative projects and opportunities to talk about and reflect on their creations and performances.

Adults carefully support and model creative thinking while encouraging children to take risks, explore new ideas and develop confidence in their own creativity. Through expressive arts and design, children develop imagination, communication, problem solving and self-expression in meaningful and engaging ways.
