Dorridge Primary Curriculum (DPC)

DPC (Dorridge Primary Curriculum) derives from the Kapow Curriculum , which is used in over 8,000 schools in the UK.

At our school, we follow the Kapow Primary curriculum to deliver engaging and high-quality lessons in history, geography, art, design & technology (D&T), and computing. Kapow provides a carefully sequenced programme of study that builds children’s knowledge and skills step by step, ensuring that they develop a deep understanding of each subject as they progress through the school.

One of the strengths of the Kapow curriculum is its emphasis on creativity, curiosity and critical thinking. Lessons are designed to be hands-on and inspiring, giving children opportunities to explore the past, understand the world around them, experiment with new ideas, and develop digital confidence. Each subject is broken down into clear units of work, helping teachers to deliver lessons that are both accessible and challenging for all pupils.

Through Kapow, children are encouraged not only to learn important facts and techniques, but also to make connections across different areas of learning. For example, in history and geography, children develop an awareness of culture, place and time, while in art and design they learn to express themselves and solve problems in creative ways. Computing lessons equip pupils with vital skills for the modern world, with a focus on safe, responsible and purposeful use of technology.

By using the Kapow curriculum, we aim to give every child the chance to succeed, discover their interests, and build the knowledge and skills they will carry with them into the future. Parents can be confident that their children are receiving a broad, balanced, and enriching curriculum that both supports academic progress and nurtures a love of learning.
