Remote Learning at Home

At Dorridge Primary School, we recognise that short-term school closures are rare and often caused by unexpected events such as severe weather, disruption to utilities, or other emergencies.

Where a closure is expected to last for only one day, we would not normally set remote learning. For example, if the school is closed due to snow, we would encourage children to enjoy the opportunity to play outside safely, spend time with their families and make the most of the experience.

However, if a school closure continues beyond one day, we will endeavour to provide learning activities through Class Dojo to help pupils continue their education at home. In the event of a prolonged closure, teachers will share appropriate learning tasks, guidance and resources via Class Dojo, and parents and carers should check the platform regularly for updates and instructions.

Please note that, in the case of an unexpected closure, there may be a short delay before learning activities are made available while staff make the necessary arrangements and prepare suitable resources.

What to Expect

  • Daily learning activities will be provided through Class Dojo.
  • Activities will reflect the curriculum being taught in school as closely as possible.
  • Learning may include a combination of online resources, practical tasks, reading activities and independent work.
  • Teachers may provide guidance, explanations, links to learning resources and opportunities for pupils to share completed work.
  • Feedback will be provided where appropriate.
