PSED

Personal, Social and Emotional Development is at the heart of everything we do within EYFS at Dorridge Primary School. We work hard to create a warm, nurturing and inclusive environment where children feel safe, valued and confident to explore, learn and build positive relationships with others.

Through carefully planned experiences, play, stories and daily interactions, children learn how to recognise and talk about their feelings, develop confidence and begin to understand the needs and perspectives of others. Adults support children to build resilience, independence and positive relationships while encouraging kindness, cooperation and respect throughout the day.

In Nursery, children begin developing a sense of belonging as they settle into routines, build relationships with adults and learn to play alongside and with others. As children move into Reception, they continue to develop increasing independence, confidence and responsibility while learning to manage feelings, solve problems and work collaboratively with their peers.

Opportunities for Personal, Social and Emotional Development are woven throughout all areas of learning, helping children to become happy, confident and successful learners who are ready for the next stage of their journey.
