Transition
We understand that starting Reception is an exciting milestone for both children and families. At Dorridge Primary School, we place great importance on ensuring children feel happy, confident and secure as they move from Nursery into Reception.
Throughout the year, children are gradually introduced to Reception routines, environments and adults through carefully planned transition opportunities and shared experiences. Strong relationships between staff help ensure children’s interests, needs and next steps are well understood so that learning can continue seamlessly.
Our transition process focuses on supporting children’s emotional wellbeing, independence and confidence while helping them become familiar with the expectations and routines of Reception life. Through stories, visits, shared activities and opportunities to explore the Reception environment, children are supported to feel excited and prepared for their next stage of learning.
We value the strong partnership between home and school and work closely with families throughout the transition process. By working together, we aim to ensure every child feels supported, reassured and ready to play, learn and succeed in Reception.
