Welcome to the start of an exciting and wonderful year in Reception.

Autumn Term in Reception

Our Autumn Term is all about belonging, building relationships and discovering who we are. Through our key concepts of Celebration, Self-Awareness and Community, children explore themselves, their families and the world around them, while learning about the traditions, experiences and celebrations that make each of us unique. As children settle into Reception, we establish strong routines and develop confidence, independence and positive relationships, with carefully planned continuous provision giving children opportunities to revisit, practise and deepen their learning through play. Alongside this, we establish strong foundations in phonics, reading, handwriting, early writing and mathematics, with a particular focus on developing vocabulary, oral language and sentence construction. Learning is brought to life through high-quality texts, meaningful experiences, creative opportunities and indoor and outdoor exploration, ensuring children develop knowledge and skills across all areas of the EYFS curriculum while beginning their Reception journey feeling happy, curious and ready to learn.
