School Admissions (Reception to Year 6)

The allocation of school places for starting at primary school in the Reception year, or for transfers for older children at other times, is coordinated through the Solihull Local Authority. The admission arrangements for each academic year in Solihull community and voluntary-controlled schools can be viewed on Solihull Local Authority’s  Solihull admissions

If you have any questions you can contact the Admissions Team:

Telephone:  0121 704 6693
email:    admissions@solihull.gov.uk
Post:     Solihull School Admissions Team, PO Box 20, Council House, Solihull, West Midlands, B91 9QU

Schools must admit children up to their admission limit. For Dorridge Primary School, this limit is 90 per year group from Reception through to Year 6. Any decisions to take class sizes over the limit are made solely by the Local Authority.

Nursery Admissions

For the academic year 2023-2024, we have 90 places split into 2 classes in our Nursery and every child will be assured the same equal provision. Each child is allocated, by the Government, 15 hours per week in Nursery. At Dorridge, this is timetabled as three hours per day, 5 days a week. Nursery hours are: 8.30am - 11.30am  Monday to Friday. All Nursery children are required to attend every morning.

In addition to the funded Nursery session in the morning, children are welcome to spend their afternoon with a Nursery Teacher and Teaching and Learning Support Assistants. This enables them to be at Nursery for the whole school day, from 8.30am – 3.15pm. If parents are eligible, the cost of this will be covered by the Early Years 30 Hour Entitlement, with a small charge for lunch and the lunchtime session childcare. Please follow the link to learn more about the 30 Hour Entitlement here: 30 Hours Flyer -2024-2025

Parents can also apply for a place in Breakfast and Teatime clubs at our Darby's provision, allowing children to start at 7.45am and finish at 6pm. For information about Darby's, click here Darby’s (About Us menu tab)

Due to its success so far this year, we anticipate using the above timetable for children starting Nursery in September 2024. However, we will send a survey to all applicants at the beginning of the Spring term 2024 to understand the requirements of families and attempt to cater for most scenarios.

For admissions for September 2024 and future years, Nursery admissions will be organised through the school. For all enquires, please contact Mrs Claire Mansfield, School Admissions Officer:
